This is the case with this extraordinary Shelby Cobra replica that recently came through our workshop. Under its hood, you won’t find the traditional Ford V8, but an impressive Dodge Viper V10 of over 8 liters, installed in an extremely compact chassis. A spectacular technical achievement that leaves no one indifferent.
An exceptional engine
Combining the timeless design of a Shelby Cobra with one of the most iconic engines in American automotive history is a true engineering challenge.
The naturally aspirated V10 of the Dodge Viper is renowned for its raw character, colossal torque, and instantly recognizable sound. Integrating it into a Cobra requires considerable work to maintain the vehicle’s balance while fully exploiting its potential.
The result is simply captivating.
Its time in our workshop
Upon arrival at Gentleman Car, this Cobra had several electrical problems. Our mission was to diagnose and resolve them to make this machine as reliable as it is powerful.
First start
After the repairs, the first start confirmed the character of this engine. From the very first revs, the Dodge Viper V10 emits a deep and powerful sound, enhanced by the side pipes.
The road test
The road test quickly validated the work done. Despite its imposing 8-liter V10, this Cobra impresses with its balance and exceptional torque, capable of pulling away in fifth gear from as low as 1,000 rpm. A driving experience as spectacular as the soundtrack that accompanies it.
Final adjustments
With the repairs complete, all that remained was to calibrate the GPS odometer before making this Cobra ready to hit the road again.
