Tech Side – Engine decarbonizing with hydrogen by Eric Van de Poele

Today, we’re featuring Côté Tech, a company headed by Eric Van de Poele, which offers a high-flow hydrogen injection engine decarbonizing service. Developed with an engineer who previously worked on Formula 1 engines for Ferrari, the machine produces hydrogen through electrolysis, without storage, and injects it directly into the engine for approximately 45 minutes.

This process triggers a reaction that eliminates carbon deposits—similar to limescale—present on valves, piston heads, and piston rings. The engine is thus thoroughly cleaned without disassembly. The technology also helps preserve particulate filters and improves overall engine performance.

The performance relies on two key elements: pure, filtered, and dry hydrogen, and a high flow rate of up to 1,800 liters per hour, adjustable according to the engine type. This preventative treatment is particularly well-suited to high-mileage or heavily carbon-clogged vehicles, preventing costly and extensive repairs while extending engine life.
