The Shelby GT40 Gulf Jacky Ickx MkI pays tribute to one of the most iconic chapters in the history of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. With its legendary Gulf blue and orange livery, the Ford GT40 MkI has become a true icon of endurance racing and motorsport history.

In 1969, the Gulf GT40 No. 6, entered by John Wyer Automotive Engineering, was driven by Jacky Ickx and Jackie Oliver. At the start of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Ickx refused to run to his car, protesting against the dangerous traditional Le Mans-style start. He calmly walked to his GT40, started last and began a spectacular comeback.

After 24 hours of racing, the GT40 No. 6 finally took victory against the Porsche 908 of Hans Herrmann and Gérard Larrousse. Ickx secured the win in the final lap, crossing the finish line with just 120 metres separating the two cars. It became one of the most famous finishes in Le Mans history.

The Gulf livery has since become inseparable from this legend. The same chassis, GT40 No. 1075, had already won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1968 with Pedro Rodríguez and Lucien Bianchi before winning again in 1969 with Jacky Ickx and Jackie Oliver.
