Anecdote
During scrutineering for the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans, Ford engineers are said to have lightly hammered certain body panels to gain the few millimeters needed to comply with the technical regulations.

In 1965, Henry Ford II entrusted Carroll Shelby with one mission: beat Ferrari at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The result was historic—a legendary 1-2-3 finish in 1966, followed by four consecutive victories from 1966 to 1969.

To commemorate this remarkable achievement, Shelby American now builds a limited number of GT40 MKI and GT40 MKII Continuation models.

Faithful to the dimensions and spirit of the original, they retain the authentic cockpit layout, Smiths-style instruments and riveted seats. Each model is available in left- or right-hand drive and in a selection of iconic historic liveries.
